JK Racing Series

Mon 26th September 2011

Our walk took us to an area where officals were packing up some JK Racing Series cars. We asked if we could sit in one, they said yes surprisingly!

Matt

Matt says...

I’m not going to lie, the car was as uncomfortable as it looks! It was being driven over the weekend by sixteen year old, Raj Bharath from India, the only Indian in the JK Series field. That explains why I don’t fit in the car then!

Thank you to Cornerstone Properties Private Limited who’s car it is for letting us take a photo!

I think Matt looks a bit uncomfortable here and for good reason – the cars were tiny!

Pit lane intruders

Mon 26th September 2011

We walked for what seemed like miles to get into zone 1 and the pit lane. The teams must have been packing up because their crates were still sitting there.

Matt

Matt says...

I don’t think we were meant to get into the pit lane while the teams were still packing up! As you can see all the crates on the track ready to be shipped to Japan.

The security guy was quite surprised when he asked us how we got in, and we just said we walked over the bridge with no hassle at all!

Oh, and the cars were still in the garages! Unfortunately they stopped me taking any more pictures. Booo!

A security guard escorted us out not long after this shot was taken!

Quiet street circuit

Mon 26th September 2011

On Monday we were allowed onto the circuit as the workmen were dismantling the course. Check me out in front of our Grandstand!

Matt

Matt says...

I can’t quite believe it’s all over. Those three days (nights) went so quickly! Oh well the F1 moves on to Japan in ten days time. Now if only we could make a quick detour…

It was strange seeing the track being taken down. 14 hours earlier and the circuit was alive with F1 cars!

Walking the track

Sun 25th September 2011

Straight after the race Matt sweet-talked a security guard into letting him jump the barrier, onto the track. He ran in front of our stand like a loon. So funny.

Matt

Matt says...

I had to continue a tradition that my cousin Scott and I used to do every time we went to the F1 with our Dads; get onto the track by any mean possible. I just convinced the security guard to turn around for 30 seconds while I jumped the fence!

90% of the time, it works every time!

Claire

Claire says...

How could you say no to that happy face? If I could shake the hand of that security guard, I would. He made Matt’s night!

Vettel takes it all

Sun 25th September 2011

Vettel wins the race, finishing 3 seconds ahead of Jenson Button. He dominated the entire 61 laps, making great viewing under the twinkling lights of Singapore.

Matt

Matt says...

So the race was a little predictable, but still great fun. That’s the championship all but wrapped up for this year but there should be some great action for the other places.

Claire

Claire says...

Okay, so I’m no F1 expert, but isn’t it a bit boring when one man wins all the time? Thank you Hamilton for spicing up the action!
