Buckets of fun

Sun 28th August 2011

After dinner, our tour leader took us to a bucket bar. Where they serve every type of alcohol under the sun is served in a bucket with straws.

I have to admit this was the worst idea; why would anyone drink a bucket of alcohol before a 10 hour bus ride across South East Asia. Long story short, I’ve never felt so bad for the whole day after. One 10 hour bus ride from hell I never want to repeat.

Maybe it was the heat, maybe it was the tiredness, but the buckets claimed their millionth victims in us. I won’t say much, but I will say there was dancing on the bar. Enough said. :)

Come dine with us

Sun 28th August 2011

Today we decided to take a break from the gruelling schedule (and Hanoi) and chill to recharge our batteries. We met the group later on for some delicious food and even more delicious cocktails.

This is Sarah and I doing a pirate impression. I have no idea why we are doing a pirate impression. For some reason I have a double hook too, maybe it’s because I’m a special pirate.

Sarah comes from Canada. Over the past 21 days I’ve discovered I should stay away from Canadians and alcohol. It usually ends up with me having a head ache.

It is time to say goodbye to those in the group who aren’t joining us for the Laos trip. We are sad to see them go,  it’s been a mini adventure!

Hanoi, you’ve beaten us!

Sat 27th August 2011

So nothing can prepare you for the dirt of Asian cities. It’s hot, humid and look what it does to your feet!

We have tan marks – too bad it’s from the dirt and not the sun! :)

I’m a tourist, get me out of here!

Sat 27th August 2011

Due to the heat, most of the Vietnamise don’t emerge till dusk. This was hugely apparent when we exited the theatre – just look at these crowds!

Matt

Matt says...

Where did all these people come from? I thought the day time was busy, but this night market was packed at 10pm. I think everyone in Hanoi was there as it took us ages to get back to our hotel.

Once out of the theatre, we were plunged into the heaving crowds of downtown Hanoi. It was certainy and experience trying to make it back to our hotel!

You talking to me?

Some of the puppets were quite scary looking. Check out their evil faces! You could have a whole lot of fun with these at home, scaring people on Haloween!

Matt

Matt says...

Look at this puppet closely. I think it may be a little rude. I guess they didn’t have bra’s back then.
