On top of the bridge!

Mon 12th December 2011

It was time to take in that spectacular view at the summit. The climb wasn’t too strenuous and the view from the top was incredible.

The climb up wasn’t as strenuous as I expected. Once you’d climbed up the main set of ladders it was a brisk walk to the top! I’m glad I’m not afraid of heights though, a girl in our group was and she turned white as a sheet!

To top the day off I had happy birthday sang to me by twelve random people from all over the world. One to tell the grandkids!

You don’t get to see sights like this everyday at home. Wow!

Ready to climb

Mon 12th December 2011

The whole experience was throughly well organised.  We were given a full run down on the equipment we needed to wear and various safety procedures.

Matt

Claire is all geared up and ready to climb! Not nervous at all I see!

We had to wear these very special suits…attractive!

Today is my 30th birthday… arghh how did that happen! Not really, it’s just another year (and another check box on forms). What a perfect present from friends and family; I get to climb over Sydney Harbour Bridge! I’ll be amazing if these old knees of mine manage it! :)

I was very excited about the climb, but a little nervous too. It’s a long way up!

Bath by the beach

Fri 9th December 2011

Finally the sun peeped out today so we took advantage and caught a bus to Bronte Beach. We noticed these sea salt pools, designed for people to swim or lie in.

Matt

Matt says...

Salt water swimming pools right next to the beach. What a great idea! One of these would be great in Blackpool! :)

What a great idea. The Aussies definitely know how to work beach facilities.

Our first Huntsman

Wed 7th December 2011

We had a little visitor in the form of a (very) scary looking Huntsman spider this evening. It was very large and hairy!

Matt

Matt says...

Okay, so you’re aren’t supposed to kill Huntsmen as they eat all the bugs etc. Being English though I’m not used to having spiders as big as my hand crawling round the kitchen! I killed it with some bug spray. I felt quite guilty doing it but there was no way I was going near it to take it outside!

Claire says...

Not what you need to see just before you’re due to head to bed (on an air bed). Thank god for insect spray!
