New arrival!

Wed 21st December 2011

A good friend of mine Matt had a baby recently. Here’s the little smiley chap! He was a little grumpy when hungry (like Claire), but very happy when full of food!

Finally get to meet up with Matty, half way round the world and in Melbourne! Rach, his lovely wife brought along their little new arrival; baby Oliver!

Secret santas

Mon 19th December 2011

This afternoon we attended a Christmas BBQ and pool party. There was a lot of meat, a lot of presents and a lot of splashing in the pool.

Matt

Matt says...

I look a little bit hung over in this photo, I had a horrible journey over to the BBQ. I wasn’t feeling too well! All self inflicted. The BBQ helped out though, lots of meat and presents!

Christmas in the heat…was too hot to even wear these hats but the BBQ food made up for it, mmm.

Luna Park at St Kilda

Sun 18th December 2011

Today we took advantage of the gorgeous weather and ventured down to St Kilda, a seaside surburb of Melbourne.

Matt

Matt says...

St Kilda is a little bit like Blackpool, only much sunnier! It is a little bit tacky in places but the beach is nice!

Claire

Claire says...

St Kilda has a mini theme park called Luna Park, we didn’t go in but couldn’t resist taking this photo!

We survived The Edge!

Sat 17th December 2011

The Edge is a glass cube which pushes you out from the Skydeck, suspending you 300 metres above the city. It has a real glass floor so you can see what’s going on beneath!

Matt

Matt says...

280 meters down looking through a glass floor. It’s a long way down!

Claire

Claire says...

When you enter the glass is opaque. Once we were suspended the glass suddenly became clear and it certainly gave me a fright! Still found time to pose though!

Skydeck – what a view!

Sat 17th December 2011

Tonight we caught the elevator of the Eureka Building up to it’s observation deck – the Skydeck. Boy was it a great view of Melbourne! You could see for miles and could clearly make out the grid of the CBD.

Matt

Matt says...

A beautiful view of Melbourne as the sun sets for another day. It’s a long way down, about 280 meters! We were on the top of Melbourne’s tallest building, the Eureka tower.

Claire says...

This was a very touristy thing to do, but I’m glad we did. The view of Melbourne was stunning and we got to see the most beautiful sunset.
