Thu 11th August 2011

Awww! Wan wanted to see if anyone had an iPhone and was delighted when one was produced. He was half engrossed, half bewildered as he sat playing with it.

One thing all the kids were asking for was our phones. The all wanted to play the built-in games. They were hooked as soon as they started playing.

Time for an arm wrestle

Thu 11th August 2011

The kids loved it when we came into the village. They all spoke fairly good English and loved to play games. They were surprisingly good at thumb wars but we beat them hands down (excuse the pun) at arm wrestling.

The village kids were very curious and asked lots of questions. This boy, Wan, was very talkative and challenged Jason to an arm wrestle.

It’s monsoon time!

Thu 11th August 2011

As we were eating a dinner of chicken and ginger, pork noodles and vegetable curry, the heavens opened. It was very atmospheric but did make us wonder what the tuc tuc ride back would be like!

The rain went from nothing to monsoon in the space of a minute. I’ve never seen rain like it before. It only lasted 20 minutes or so and once it had finished all the frogs started to sing to each other. Or maybe that was because we ate their brother earlier!

Claire and the frog

Thu 11th August 2011

Mmmm tasting the frog. It actually wasn’t too bad, it tasted spicy but was surprisingly crunchy which was a little bit off putting!

Stuffed frogs anyone?

Thu 11th August 2011

A Cambodian delicacy, stuffed frogs were first on the menu. Cooked in lots of yummy spices, they sounded tasty, but didn’t look that way if I’m honest!
