Tunnel of art

Sun 27th November 2011

This was a sight to see. Lots of huge pieces of art displayed inside a tunnel which led to the other side of the island.

I’d love to know a bit more about the island, as there were many industrial buildings and quite a few tunnels. Great place for a street art exhibition.

I really liked the location of these bits of work.

T.shirt art

Sun 27th November 2011

One part of the exhibition was filled with hundreds of t.shirts, all organised in graduating sections of colour. It was very interesting to see how t.shirt art has evolved over the years.

I’m not one to go clothes shopping but there were some awesome t-shirts on display. Every clothes shop should be laid out like this.

Look at all those lovely t.shirts! I wish I had that many.

Smiling Banksy

Sun 27th November 2011

One of the most iconic Banksy images, the smiley face. It was a shame there were no new pieces to admire, but fun all the same reminding ourselves of the best ones.

Banksy tribute

Sun 27th November 2011

One of the warehouses was filled with framed copies of Banksy’s most famous work. It was quite impressive seeing them all in one place.

I spent some time studying the Aussie’s reactions to the work, they do seem to love him here.

All alone

Sun 27th November 2011

There were lots of random exhibits scattered across the islands. Cockatoo Island is a great location for street art, it’s home to lots of abandoned warehouses.

I really liked this art piece. I’m not sure why, it seemed so simple.
