We’re at the surface!

Sat 22nd October 2011

To allow enough nitrogen to pass from our bodies, we had to make an adequate surface interval. Or just hanging out on the boat till it’s time to go back down again!

I paid £40 to hire a waterproof camera for the dives so I needed to get my moneys worth!

Here I’m chatting to Tim, one of the Irish lads on our course. I think we’re laughing because even in the choppiest of waters, Matt was still taking photos! :)

Navigation fail

Fri 21st October 2011

Our second dive of the day was the Navigation dive. We were given a compass and allowed to dive on our own, trying to find our way back to the boat.

After diving for 35 minutes we had to navigate our way back to the boat. As you can see we were quite a distance away! Time to start swimming.

Yay, we’re certified!

Wed 19th October 2011

After a few skills underwater and our dive, we emerged from the water as fully certified Open Water Divers!

Matt

Matt says...

What an amazing experience, I’ve loved every minute of the diving (apart from the major sea sickness on the first day, that wasn’t fun at all!)

It is a great feeling to know we’d passed, and can now go diving anywhere in the world.

Sailing in the dark

Wed 12th October 2011

Our boat tickets bought and we were on our way to Koh Phangan for the world famous Full Moon Party.

Matt

Matt says...

Speed boats are fun, especially in the dark!

Boarding a small boat at night was a little strange, even more so once it sped off into the night!
