The finish line

Sat 19th November 2011

We survived! Through ice pits, mud slides, rope swings, barb wire mud crawls, drop and rolls…just to name a few.

Can you see me? I’m in the bottom right corner. I’m so glad I wore white shorts. Great idea!

Yes, that’s a big blob of mud on the lens! I couldn’t clean it as every time I tried I covered it in more mud! The waterproof camera survived for another day!

I have never been covered in so much mud, it was literally coming out of every single orifice! Love the added lump of mud on the camera lens here.

Mud, glorious mud

Sat 19th November 2011

So we got muddy. Very muddy. This photo was taken quite near the start of the race…it gets much worse!

Matt

Matt says...

On your marks…

Sat 19th November 2011

…get set, GO! Here we are at the start line waiting for the gun to go off. Ooh the excitement is building!

Matt

Matt says...

There was an amazing atmosphere, everyone was friendly and ready to go. Bring on the mud!

We saw so many awesome fancy dress costumes, it was a shame we didn’t dress up!  Saying that I was hot enough running in 30 degree heat as it was!

Go team!

Sat 19th November 2011

Here are all the Stampede runners. We all look remarkably clean and fresh-faced, little did we know the things that were in store for us!

Matt

Matt says...

Look at us all, elite athletes! Like a coiled spring, or maybe that should be  a slinky.

Hailing a train

Wed 2nd November 2011

Okay, so it’s not a real train. But fun all the same. We found this old train from 1965 in the centre of Malacca. That’s an old train!

Matt

Matt says...

Claire running for a train (that isn’t moving). I have no idea why we were getting funny looks from the locals. :)
