Life-like people

Sun 13th November 2011

These two looked very real, and I especially liked the way the man had his mouth open, like he was shocked at the view of the ocean.

This one sort of reminded me of my Dad when he falls to sleep on the sofa :)

Who left that pin there?

Sun 13th November 2011

Many of the exhibits were a bit tongue and check, as demonstrated by this pin placed into one of the cracks in the weathered stone.

Matt says...

I like this one! Very creative.

You can get a sense of how big the pin was by looking at the man next to it!

Give us a kiss!

Samba invited the girls to sit on a ledge in front of some very large stone heads. At the time we weren’t sure why he asked me to pout, but it all became clear when we looked at this photo!

Snake on the Victory Gate

Fri 12th August 2011

We visited the famous Angkor Wat site today. It was alot bigger than we expected, with 5 temples in total. This statue was guarding the Victory gate, a grand entrance to one of the stunning historical temples.

Matt

Matt says...

It’s such a shame this statue is so badly damaged. It would have been an incredible site to see when entering along the bridge.

This menacing snake head towers before many statues of people holding it’s body on the lead up to the main gate. Considering some of these stone carvings have been around since the 11th century, its pretty incredble that  they are still standing!
