Byron surfers

Tue 27th December 2011

After our walk it was time for a swim in the sea! We had a refreshing dip and watched the surfers for a while.

This is where my 70 – 300mm lens really comes in handy! I got some great pictures of some of the surfers off the coast. No idea who he is but he looks like he is having fun!

Merry Christmas Melbourne

Tue 13th December 2011

We’ve seen these flags in Sydney so they must be popular in Australia at Christmas time. Still feels weird seeing them with blue sky in the background!

It’s too hot for Christmas! I’m so confused, it feels like July not December!

Macquaries Point

Tue 15th November 2011

The sun came out for our walk around Macquaries Point today. And just look at this stunning view of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House!

This panoramic was taken with Claire’s small digital camera. There’s a slight curve in the horizon but other than that it turned out great. Love the view!

Chillin’ on a bamboo

Tue 25th October 2011

The butterflies seemed to like resting in the sun. All that fluttering about must make them mighty tired!

Matt

Matt says...

Some of the species rested in places with their wings open, others closed. I assume it was due to body heat but I could be wrong. I usually found it was the ones I wanted to take a photo off with their wings open would be closed!

Sun going down

Sat 17th September 2011

We watched the sun go down on Kata beach and it looked very pretty as it cast it’s last rays over the sea.

The men in the foreground were trying to remove a large speedboat from the sea. The method involved wheeling a trailer into the sea and letting a speedboat race onto the back of it at speed. A slightly dangerous method; I think they need a winch.

Oh and the sunset was nice too :)

I think I would describe the Andaman sea as ‘glassy’. It really reflects the sun and looks particularly wonderful at dusk.
