Malaysia has a real mix of religions. The country has a mixture of Islam, Buddhism, Daoism, Hinduism and Christians. This little chap was chilling out in a Chinese temple.
We were treated to a rare sight, Monks chanting and saying their evening prayers. They pray twice a day, once when they wake at 4.30am and once in the evening.
We had to be very quiet as to not disturb the Monks while they were chanting. Luckily my camera has a quiet shutter setting so I don’t think they knew I was there taking the photo.
The atmosphere inside the temple was still, as if waiting until the Monks were finished praying.
We took a walk around Pak Beng, walking past their only bar and gawping at the food market. There was a very pretty view on the hill of the Mekong River.
Here’s our tour group at one of the grand temples. We liked the beautiful design on the ceiling, so decided to capture it combined with 9 cheesy grins!
The people in Laos are extremely friendly, much more so than Vietnam. This Monk was very interested in where we were all from, he was happy and smiley.
