Skydeck – what a view!

Sat 17th December 2011

Tonight we caught the elevator of the Eureka Building up to it’s observation deck – the Skydeck. Boy was it a great view of Melbourne! You could see for miles and could clearly make out the grid of the CBD.

A beautiful view of Melbourne as the sun sets for another day. It’s a long way down, about 280 meters! We were on the top of Melbourne’s tallest building, the Eureka tower.

This was a very touristy thing to do, but I’m glad we did. The view of Melbourne was stunning and we got to see the most beautiful sunset.

Beautiful Melbourne

Fri 16th December 2011

Tonight we were meeting friends for dinner but wandered for a while along the Southbank first. This is a gorgeous shot of the city.

Another day, another city! This time Melbourne. Imagine London and Brighton mixed together, that’s what Melbourne is like. I’m a big fan!

The Southbank is a very pretty walk along the river in the centre of Melbourne. It reminds me a lot of London, with it’s swanky bars and cafes.

Sunset on the bridge

Mon 12th December 2011

As we were finishing our climb we caught a glimpse of the most beautiful sunset behind the clouds. Very impressive at 134 metres above sea level!

Unfortunately you aren’t allowed to take your own camera up the bridge (as they like to charge you extortionate prices for their own when you get to the bottom). The views were fantastic. We climbed up at a perfect time, just before the sunset!

On top of the bridge!

Mon 12th December 2011

It was time to take in that spectacular view at the summit. The climb wasn’t too strenuous and the view from the top was incredible.

The climb up wasn’t as strenuous as I expected. Once you’d climbed up the main set of ladders it was a brisk walk to the top! I’m glad I’m not afraid of heights though, a girl in our group was and she turned white as a sheet!

To top the day off I had happy birthday sang to me by twelve random people from all over the world. One to tell the grandkids!

You don’t get to see sights like this everyday at home. Wow!

Sydney Harbour Bridge climb

Mon 12th December 2011

The whole experience was throughly well organised.  We were given a full run down on the equipment we needed to wear and various safety procedures.

Today is my 30th birthday… arghh how did that happen! Not really, it’s just another year (and another check box on forms). What a perfect present from friends and family; I get to climb over Sydney Harbour Bridge! I’ll be amazing if these old knees of mine manage it! :)

I was very excited about the climb, but a little nervous too. It’s a long way up!
