Super sunset

Sun 25th December 2011

On Christmas Day evening we were treated to this stunning sunset on the canal. The perfect end to our first Christmas in Aus!

The water was so calm and clear I had to get a photograph of it. I think the photo turned out quite nicely with the sunset at the end of an excellent Christmas day.

Padi Open Water Course

Sun 16th October 2011

We’re on a 3 and a half day Padi Open Water Diving Course. It’s a mixture of theory, an exam, pool training and 4 real ocean dives. Yay!

Before we get to the really fun part of diving we have to do some studying and a few exams. It’s like being back at school!

Remember I mentioned my fear of deep blue water? Time to really test myself and learn how to dive!

Beautiful sea

Sat 1st October 2011

The East Coast Pacific sea is very calm, which mirrors this Island’s atmosphere. It creeps in very slowly at high tide, silently taking more and more of the beach away.

Get yourself a tripod and a camera that can do long shutter speeds and this is the effect it has on the sea. This was a 3 second shutter, makes the sea look like mist.

Row row row your kayak

Thu 1st September 2011

It was time for a day long Kayak trip! Getting out of the town and into the countryside, we drove 15km to the start point. Time to get wet!

Amazing scenery, I was just praying I didn’t get too sun burned!

First time Kayaking and what a way to do it! Gliding past the majestic mountains was incredible. It took a while to get used to using the oar though!

Water puppet show

Sat 27th August 2011

This was a real experience. Water puppetery is a Vietnamise tradition and even though the show was a little random in parts, we were glad to have seen it in all it’s glory!

The hour long show was both weird and wonderful. I found it hard not to laugh at the puppets writhing around on stage. The last scene when the Carpe turned into a dragon was simply stunning.
